The Interior Design Department

Saddleback College offers an interdisciplinary Interior Design curriculum providing multi-level, accredited courses that prepare students with the competencies required to enter the Interior Design profession or transfer to a four-year college or university.

The Level I Interior Design Foundations certificate is designed to develop the fundamental skills necessary for entry-level employment in interior design-related fields.

The Level II Interior Design certificate builds on the Level I coursework to prepare students for employment as entry-level designers. In addition, it meets the minimum requirements set by the CCIDC (California Council for Interior Design Certification) to sit for the IDEX Interior Design Exam, part of the process of becoming a Certified Interior Designer in the state of California.

Completion of the Level II certificate program and required General Education courses qualifies students to receive an Associate of Science Degree in Interior Design.

The Level III Interior Design Professional certification builds upon Level II coursework to prepare students for employment as entry-level professional Interior Designers. The Level III coursework meets the minimum educational requirements to be eligible to sit for the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) Exam, a nationally-recognized accreditation.

In response to industry needs, Saddleback Interior Design has added a new certificate in Interior Design Digital Production. This program provides students with digital design skills for entry-level employment or professional career advancement in interior design and related fields. Through a series of computer-based courses, students receive specialized training in digital drafting, 3D modeling, rendering, visualization, and digital presentation.
